264 Tag

As David explained in an October post about RDA records, the 264 tag is being used (in some records) for publishing information instead of the 260 tag. As of this morning, when the new index was loaded, the 264 tag information (for both publisher name and place of publication) is included in keyword searches for "publication info includes." Additionally this information now displays in search results.

This nhu-pac search will show you an example of this tag in use:
Title: sneaky pie
AND Publisher: Thorndike

ALL van routes are cancelled today due to the weather. The State Library building is open. Be safe today!

Also, there is a strong possibility that the Lakes Region route for Friday will be cancelled due to lack of a van (and driver!). I will send out a more definitive message tomorrow morning regarding that route.

Brief NHU-PAC outage Mon. 12/24 7:35am

As noted on our known issues page, NHU-PAC servers are routinely restarted on the last Tuesday of the month.  This month will be a little different.  Because the last Tuesday of the month falls on Dec. 25, NHAIS Services will be restarting NHU-PAC servers on the morning of Monday, Dec. 24, starting around 7:35 a.m.  The NHU-PAC should be back online within 10 minutes except that Holdings Maintenance sometimes takes an extra 5 minutes to be restored.  If you happen to be working in the NHU-PAC on Tuesday morning, expect a brief (less than 2 minutes) interruption of the ILL program around 10 a.m.

Friday NHU-PAC update

Friday, Dec. 21, 9:55 a.m.: The state's network folks are chalking up yesterday's NHU-PAC problems to a "larger outage issue."  We're keeping an eye on things today.  It should be noted that there was never an issue with any of the NHU-PAC's servers yesterday--they were up and running just fine all day.  All yesterday's problems involved sporadic loss of connectivity, most involving the ILL server.

Otherwise, how are things?  We still have SirsiDynix trying to figure out why some e-mail messages sent from the NHU-PAC work OK and others don't.  That situation remains as detailed in a Dec. 10 message.

In a non-NHAIS Services issue, the State Library's Darlene Reinhard reports she's in touch with the state Department of Information Technology about a problem with the online interactive Directory of New Hampshire Libraries.  You'll get an error message if your search results are too large.  You can narrow your results by searching for the name of a library rather than for a town or city name.

NHU-PAC normal Friday morning

Friday, Dec. 21, 7:55 a.m.: Today starts with the NHU-PAC appearing to function normally.  We'll keep an eye on things as the day goes on.

ILL connectivity update

Thursday, Dec. 20, 1:50 p.m.: Connectivity to NHU-PAC's ILL program has been up and down this afternoon.  We don't know for sure right now if this is connected to on-and-off issues that the state network in Concord is experiencing today.  If you're able to reach the ILL login page, great--go for it.  Just be aware your connection may hang at some point.

ILL connectivity issue returns

Thursday, Dec. 20, 11:45 a.m.: It appears the connectivity problems that plagued NHU-PAC's ILL server in late October/early November have returned.  The server is up and running but users outside the State of New Hampshire network are reporting being unable to load the login page.

SE & SW van routes a little late Thurs. 12/20

Hello,
I believe all van routes are functional today! There are substitute drivers on the Southeastern and Southwestern van routes (see http://www.nh.gov/nhsl/services/librarians/van_delivery/thursday.html for libraries). Van deliveries will probably be at least an hour later than your usual time.

For those of you on the Southwestern routes, you probably already know that you will have a substitute driver for the next several weeks (and your regular driver Jim is coming along well).

NHU-PAC e-mail update

Monday, Dec. 10: We're still having problems with a NHU-PAC e-mail issue first noted on Nov. 21.  The current situation is that if you send an e-mail from My List it should be fine.  Likewise if you use the e-mail options at the bottom of a page with multiple search results.  However, if you try to send an e-mail from a page with an individual search result, you'll either get nothing (if HTML format is chosen) or an error message (if plain text format is chosen).  We continue to work with SirsiDynix on resolving this problem.
