Forwarded messages on NHAIS-L & NHAIS-ILL

You may have noticed a few recent "forwarded to the list on behalf of..." messages on the NHAIS-L and NHAIS-ILL e-mail lists. Instead of being received at the addresses where the list administrators can approve the messages for posting to list subscribers, the messages were sent to administrative addresses which led to delays, sometimes of several days, in the posting of messages.
The root of this problem: AutoComplete or a similar feature which suggests addresses when you start typing in the TO: area while composing a message. When you start typing "NHAIS," make sure your e-mail program doesn't supply an address with the word "bounces" in it. The correct address for NHAIS-L messages is nhais-l@maillist2.nh.gov. The correct address for NHAIS-ILL messages is nhais-ill@maillist2.nh.gov.
Also, please remember that messages dealing with interlibrary loan matters should be directed to NHAIS-ILL. Other topics, including book giveaways, belong on NHAIS-L. If you send a message to the wrong list, you'll get a rejection message; we cannot forward messages from one list to the other.

Van Delivery, Late August/September 2007

The State Library will be closed on Monday, September 3, 2007, in observance of Labor Day. There will be NO Van Service on that date. If you are a once a week stop, you may want to make arrangements with a nearby library to have your materials delivered/picked up for that week.

For a complete list of all of the holidays the State Library is closed, please visit http://www.nh.gov/nhsl/services/librarians/van_delivery/instructions.html (the van delivery instructions) and scroll down to "NO Van Service".

Another round of van driver vacations are coming up. During that time, substitute driver(s) will be taking over. Van delivery will be made, although very likely at a later time than the regular driver(s) arrive. The vacation times I have scheduled substitute drivers for so far are as follows:

Friday, August 24, 2007 - Capital Region (Frank Boucher's route) - Pam Ober will be driving that day.

August 27-31, 2007 - Southeastern Region (Stan Arthur's route) - Bob Reinhard will be the driver all week.

Friday, August 31, 2007 - Capital Region (Frank Boucher's route) - Clint Jackson will be driving that day.

September 4-7, 2007 - Southwestern Region (Jim Weatherbee's route) - Bob Reinhard and John McCormick will be sharing driving duties that week.

Thursday, September 13, 2007 - Lakes Region Route (Bob Reinhard's route) - Jill Witham will be driving that day.

Friday, September 14, 2007 - Southwestern Region (Jim Weatherbee's route) - Bob Reinhard will be driving that day.

Reduced hours for NHAIS Services Aug. 13-15

NHAIS Services will be operating from temporary quarters next Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (August 13-15) while pipes for a fire suppression system are installed in our usual home. We'll make sure the NHU-PAC is working, of course, but will otherwise scale back our services during this time. The NHAIS Help Desk phone (271-2141) will be answered between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.; at other hours you can leave a message on voicemail. You can also contact the Help Desk via e-mail at NetworkS@library.state.nh.us. Please understand that there may be a delay in answering some Help Desk queries. Messages sent to NHAIS-L and NHAIS-ILL must be received by 3 p.m. in order to be reviewed for posting to the list the same day; messages received after 3 p.m. will have to wait for approval the next day. We hope to have operations back to normal on Thursday.

Card printing update

New Hampshire Correctional Industries has printed catalog cards for requests submitted through the NHU-PAC between July 18 and 25. These will be distributed to libraries next week. As noted in a July 26 post, NHCI has been having printer problems. While they wait for new equipment, they're doing what they can with what they have. An attempt to print catalog cards requested through the NHU-PAC since July 25 will be made sometime next week. Libraries requesting card printing should expect delays in delivery through the end of August.
