NHSL Vans Transported 500,000 things!

According to a recent media release from the NH Department of Cultural Resources, the New Hampshire State Library estimates that sometime in the next few days, its statewide van delivery service will deliver this year’s 500,000th requested library item. This will be the second consecutive year that deliveries have topped a half-million.

What's included in this count? All the ILL transactions through NHAIS (115,837 so far in 2009) which are loaned and returned via van, reciprocal borrowing between libraries (GMILCS, for example does a lot of this), materials like the summer reading packets and Book Bag kits which travel by van, as well as all kinds of special deliveries travelling between libraries, among coops, and from state agencies and non-profits to local libraries through the van service.
