ILL and cataloging training

As previously announced, the Using the NHU-PAC for Interlibrary Loan class will be offered online Tuesday morning (Dec. 16) starting at 9:15.  If you'd like to participate, it's important that you register before 2 p.m. today.  See registration instructions on the NHAIS Services training page.

Also this week, I'm offering an online workshop on using MarcEdit to search the NHU-PAC, download MARC records from the NHU-PAC, and (optionally) add call number information to the records before sending to NHAIS Services so holdings for new items in your collection will be reflected in the NHU-PAC.  The workshop will start at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday (Dec. 17).  The demo part of it will take about 15 minutes and then I'll take questions.

The workshop is chiefly aimed at libraries that do not currently have an automated catalog but anyone who'd like a look is welcome to participate.  Unlike the ILL class, no advance registration is required for the cataloging workshop.  To participate, you'll need to be able to use GoToMeeting and be able to hear audio (via speakers or headphones) from your computer.  You don't need a microphone--participants will be able to submit questions through their keyboards.  To attend the workshop, go to the NHU-PAC at least 5 minutes before the start time, click on the HELP! tab, click on the Help Desk Drop In subtab, and follow prompts to launch Citrix GoToMeeting.  (Registrants for the ILL class should use the link sent to them to join the class.)

On-demand videos on exporting records from various automation systems are in the works. I hope to have them available before the end of the year.
