Memo on ILL
TO: New Hampshire Library Community
FROM:
Michael York
SUBJECT: ILL Efforts
DATE
: February 23, 2018
This posting it to let the
library community know what we are doing to resolve the problem with the
failure of the URSA interlibrary loan system. As I said I my previous postings
we are looking for an acceptable solution to this problem even as we prepare to
replace the SIRSI DYNIX ILS as soon as possible. We have asked OCLC to
provide us with information about its D2D product RELAIS which they have done.
The OCLC representative met with Mary Russell and me to provide an
overview with the service and price estimates. That was the beginning of
this week; today Mary , David Harris and I were on a conference call with the
key people at RELAIS head quartered in Ottawa, Ontario
to discuss functionality and implementation issues.
As I said in my last posting we
put together a group of Ill librarians to look at RELAIS and get their
assessment of the product. Based on the feedback from this group we are
working with RELAIS to develop a solution to the aforementioned URSA failure.
As I have said before we understand the strain the loss of URSA has put
on the New Hampshire library community and we are trying to get the best
solution to the problem in place as quickly as possible.
