Bye-bye, old NHU-PAC!
Say goodbye to the old NHU-PAC. We've told you it would be going away at some point and now we can say its disappearance from the World Wide Web will occur early next year--either January 2 or 3--after 17 years of service. If you have any links pointing to nhu-pac.nh.gov or nhu-pac.library.state.nh.us be aware they'll lead to nowhere at the end of next week. Interlibrary loan and cataloging resources for New Hampshite libraries have shifted to the new NHAIS Interlibrary Loan System at nhais.agshareit.com.
Libraries that don't have passwords for the new system are still welcome to search it (no login required) to determine which libraries hold needed titles, then make loan arrangements by phone or e-mail. Note that because of the way the new system searches multiple catalogs it doesn't give you a handy one-page view of all holdings on widely held titles. To take advantage of the system's power to process your interlibrary loan needs, sign up now to participate. More than 200 libraries were part of the new system at launch on October 8. For those who missed out, we now welcome applicants for Round 2 of implementation; Round 3 sign-ups will be offered in March.
The NHU-PAC lives on as a union catalog within the new system, one of many catalogs the system consults to find holdings. While that union catalog contains the holdings of far fewer libraries than its previous incarnation, it still has many bibliographic records available for catalogers to download.
