Thursday ILL update: maybe next week

Thursday, Dec. 21, 2:55 p.m.: Further progress has been made today toward restoring the NHU-PAC ILL program.  SirsiDynix thinks it may be back online next week.

With several more days ahead without the program, please observe suggestions in a NHAIS Notes post from two weeks ago.  Note that it is suggested that, whenever possible, you should contact holding libraries directly rather than posting to the NHAIS-ILL e-mail list.  Further note that there's a link available to handy ILL contact lists.

One thing we learn whenever there's a NHU-PAC outage is how many people don't read NHAIS Notes.  Even after two weeks without the ILL program, the NHAIS Help Desk is still getting calls and e-mails from users reporting they can't connect to the ILL server.  If any of your colleagues ask if you're also experiencing problems with ILL, feel free to point them in the direction of the NHAIS Notes blog for updates.  It can easily be reached from the Welcome to NHU-PAC page by clicking on the System Messages subtab.  That subtab will display only messages related to NHAIS system issues but messages on all topics can be seen by clicking on NHAIS Notes at the top of the blog page.  Subscription options can be found at the bottom right of the page.

We also find out how many ILL users aren't subscribed to the NHAIS-ILL e-mail list.  It's OK to send messages from non-subscribed addresses but be aware that such messages are held for review before being posted to the list--and the reviewing only happens during weekday business hours.

One more thing: don't panic if you can't reach that Welcome to NHU-PAC page early next Tuesday.  It's just our regular last-Tuesday-of-the-month server maintenance that will have the NHU-PAC offline from roughly 7:35 to 7:45 a.m. on December 26.
