Online workshops on adding NHU-PAC holdings

It's been mighty busy at the NHAIS Help Desk since new procedures were introduced for adding and deleting NHU-PAC holdings and downloading NHU-PAC records.  I've walked a number of folks through the procedures on an individual basis but know there are still more needing some help.  To address this issue, I'll be offering several online drop-in workshops (no registration required) starting this week.  Participants will be able to ask questions after viewing a demonstration of selected procedures.

I don't intend to cover deleting NHU-PAC holdings as there's already a fine YouTube video that deals with that.  The first workshops will be chiefly of interest to those without an automated catalog.  In later workshops I hope to offer demonstrations of how to export records from specific ILS's--with help from those who've already mastered the steps.  But which specific ILS's need demos?  If you're interested in online training about exporting records from a specific automation system, please send an e-mail to me with a mention of your ILS and I'll see what I can do.

To participate in the online demos, you'll need to be able to use GoToMeeting and be able to hear audio (via speakers or headphones) from your computer.  You don't need a microphone--participants will be able to submit questions through their keyboards.

Currently I have three sessions scheduled and plan to announce more as needed:
Thursday, Oct. 9, 2 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 10, 10 a.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 15, 10 a.m.

These sessions are intended for libraries that have no automation system.  Each will cover using MarcEdit tools to find matching records in the NHU-PAC, add local call numbers (optional), and send those records to NHAIS Services so holdings can be added to the NHU-PAC.  The demo part of it will take 10 or 15 minutes but I'm budgeting an hour per session to take of everyone's questions.

To attend, go to the NHU-PAC at least 5 minutes before the start time, click on the HELP! tab, click on the Help Desk Drop In subtab, and follow prompts to launch Citrix GoToMeeting.  There's a limit of 30 simultaneous connections so if there's a big turnout for one workshop and you can't get in just watch for an announcement about future sessions.
