New ILL System changes for catalogers
We're 5 days away from the launch of the new NHAIS Interlibrary Loan System! The new system will mean changes for those handling interlibrary loans, of course, but it also means changes for catalogers.
The new NHAIS ILL System offers several ways to download MARC records but, most commonly, libraries getting bibliographic records from the NHU-PAC will continue to use a Z39.50 connection, whether it's built into the library's ILS cataloging module or part of a standalone program like the MarcEdit Z39.50/SRU Client.
The NHU-PAC will continue to be a source of MARC records for New Hampshire catalogers but, because it's moving to a new address, users will need to make a one-time change to their Z39.50 settings for the NHU-PAC. The new settings include a password which will be available after the new NHAIS ILL System is launched on October 8. See the top of the Options for Downloading MARC Records from NHU-PAC handout for details.
Catalogers who do not change their Z39.50 settings for the NHU-PAC next week will be drawing from a source that's not updated and will eventually go offline.
