What's with all the enhancements and fixes?
Roughly every other Tuesday there's a message about fixes and enhancements being applied to the NHAIS ILL System. What's up with that? How come we rarely saw such notices with the previous ILL system?
The software used for statewide ILL from 2002 until last year, although supported by SirsiDynix, was no longer being developed in recent years so only critical fixes were applied as needed. SHAREit, by contrast, just had version 6 introduced as we began implementation of the new ILL system. Another difference between new and old systems: SHAREit software is hosted on "the cloud" rather than on servers in Concord. This allows Auto-Graphics to regularly update the software for all users (not just New Hampshire) at once.
That access also allows Auto-Graphics to address issues even when the State Library is closed. That happened last Saturday morning when users (not just in New Hampshire) were getting "403 Forbidden" messages when trying to place requests. The problem was fixed by 10:30 a.m.
Even though there's no one answering the phone (271-2141) or checking e-mails at the NHAIS Help Desk nights, weekends, or holidays, it's still worthwhile to let us know about critical problems with the NHAIS ILL System so we can make sure issues were addressed.
