Annual Report Changes: Reporting Method
Another change implemented by IMLS this year is the addition of two questions related to the reporting method of ‘Library Visits’ and ‘Reference Questions.’ IMLS simply wants to know how you got the number for each. There are two options available from the drop-down menu:
o Annual Count: Select this option if you have a door counter, or another system, for ‘Library Visits’ and/or keep a daily tally of ‘Reference Questions,’ from which you get the numbers for the full year.
o Annual Estimate Based on Typical Week(s): This is the most common scenario for both. However, I understand that there is no such thing as a “typical week” this year. If you feel that you are unable to offer even an estimate, simply select ‘Unavailable’ for ‘Library Visits’ and/or ‘Reference Questions’ and leave this field blank.
o Null: If you selected ‘Unavailable’ for ‘Library Visits’ and/or ‘Reference Questions,’ then simply leave this field blank.
Nothing too complicated here. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns about this.
