NHAIS ILL System briefly offline 10pm
The NHAIS ILL System will be offline tonight (Tuesday, Nov. 30) for no more than 15 minutes starting at 10 o'clock. This outage will allow installation of administrative updates to our ILL program.
NHAIS Notes is a way for the New Hampshire State Library to disseminate information about NHAIS programs and issues. The mission of the New Hampshire Automated Information System (NHAIS) is to promote and improve access to library and information resources for and about New Hampshire. Suggestions or comments about this blog should be sent to mary.russell@dncr.nh.gov

Monday, Nov. 29, 10:45 a.m.: Atriuum catalogs are back online and the NHAIS ILL System is back to normal. If you struck out on a request placed earlier this morning (and possibly Sunday as well), it might be worth it to search again and see if your results are different.
From time to time one or two catalogs that are searched by our system are offline for various reasons and that normally wouldn't be mentioned here but this case affected a fairly large chunk of the NHAIS ILL universe.

Monday, Nov. 29, 9:55 a.m.: An outage is currently affecting libraries libraries throughout the state that use the Atriuum ILS. That includes 40 participants in the NHAIS ILL System and you may notice some effects in the system. Searches may be slower than usual to complete and holdings from Atriuum catalogs will not be included in search results. Locations with Atriuum catalogs will not be included in lender lists for requests created and submitted during this outage. If you come up empty on requests placed this morning, you may want to try again after the issue is fixed.

The State Library will be closed Thursday and Friday this week, so there will be no ILL deliveries those days.
Our van coordinator, Jill Witham, has come up with a plan to deliver to all the libraries that receive only one delivery a week on either Thursday or Friday.
So if you receive one ILL delivery a week on either Thursday or Friday, please check the list below for which day your make-up delivery is on. (Kudos to Jill for figuring this all out—she’s a genius!)

A few items related to recent enhancements to the NHAIS ILL System...
-After the Add More From These Libraries message was added to the bottom of search results pages in September, we said we wanted to have this removed as it served no useful purpose in our system. The message is now gone.
-The new Renewed by Lender status initially appeared near the bottom of the borrower side of the Request Manager screen, under the terminal statuses like Expired and Complete. We've moved it up to be next to other renewal statuses.
While Renewed by Lender allows the lender to change a Due Date without the borrower submitting a renewal request, it only applies after the borrower has received the item. For requests still in Shipped status, lenders should use Undo Shipped to change the Due Date as long as they catch it the same day the request has moved into that status. In the works is an extension of the Undo Shipped option to seven days.
-Also in the works are more undo options. Five undo functions have been added since June and three others are on the way: Undo Recall and Undo Conditional for the lender and Undo Received - Non-returnables for the borrower.

The problem with nothing but zeroes displaying for availability on brief view pages should be fixed tonight (Wednesday, Nov. 10). The NHAIS ILL System will be offline for up to 15 minutes starting at 10 o'clock to install the fix for this issue as well as other improvements. Remember that the lender list build process does its own searching after you submit a request so your lender list will not necessarily be limited to whatever number you see for holdings on the record you choose to create your request. You can still choose a record with no holdings to create your request and let the system find matching records with holdings.
When "Add More From These Libraries" was added to the bottom of search results pages in September, it was noted here that the feature may be useful for SHAREit installations in other states but wasn't helpful in the NHAIS ILL System. Further modifications are being made to this function so it shouldn't display the message (now reworked to "See More From") unless there actually is more to see. Also being added is the ability to turn the message off altogether; we expect to implement that option as soon as possible.
More Renewed by Lender options are being added with tonight's program update. There will be four actions available to lenders to change requests in Renewed by Lender status.
The actions for Check In, Recall, Lost, and Overdue are the same actions that are available to the lender for the three statuses to which the Renewed by Lender status can be applied: Received, Accepted Renewal, and Overdue. Requests in Renewed by Lender status are found under "Items awaiting trading partner response" on the lender's side of the Request Manager.
