Van bins and deliveries
I’ve heard from a few of the van drivers that some of the bins have been overloaded recently.
Here are a few excerpts from the State Library van guidelines:
Prior to the arrival of the van, libraries are asked to place the bin as close to the entrance of the building as possible.
Bins should be properly packed with books placed (horizontally) in the bin to maximize space usage.
Books should not extend over the top of the bin. Bins are stacked in the vans and need to be reasonably flat.
If you find you are in need of an extra bin for a pick, please call the State Library prior to the day you receive your delivery at 603-271-2616
Here's a photo of how your bin should NOT look:
I know some libraries are hesitant about using the routing slips that are supplied through the NHAIS ILL System for one reason or another. My suggestion is if you absolutely don’t want to use them, then at the very least please copy off the exact information that would be on the slip. That way there will be a lot less confusion for all of us at the State Library when sorting the books to go into the bins.
Thank you,
