Shipping label enhancement and new Rebuild Lender List feature
The NHAIS ILL System will be offline tonight (Thursday, Sept. 29) for up to 15 minutes starting at 10 o'clock. This will allow software updates including an entirely new function and another modification to the Print Shipping Labels feature.
A new font will be used to improve readability of shipping labels. The font includes more serifs, as on the capital “I” in this example:
New to the program is the ability for staff at borrowing libraries to rebuild the lender list, which determines how each request is routed. This option will be available for requests in Awaiting Approval, Cancelled, Expired, Retry, or Unfilled status. The Rebuild Lender List button will show on the full request record:
When the new lender list is built, it may be unchanged from the original list or it may include additional potential lenders (if libraries added a holding since the original lender list was built) or it may include fewer lenders (if libraries deleted their holdings since the original list was built).
When Rebuild Lender List is clicked, staff will need to confirm that they want to rebuild the list or they can return to the request form. If the “Need by date” has passed, an alert message will display so staff can change the date before rebuilding the lender list. An alert will also display if the “Need by date” is within 30 days (which will probably apply to most requests). In that case, staff will have the ability to proceed without changing the date or can return to the request and enter a new date.
This new function will probably be of most use for newer titles. It is not recommended for multi-copy requests as the new lender list will be built as if it were a single request, with all potential lenders included. That would mean some libraries would see your request more than once.
The request history notes will indicate that the Rebuild Lender List function was used and a new list built:
