ILL stats

Looking for a quick count of ILL activity in the NHAIS ILL System for the past year? Follow these steps:

Log into the NHAIS ILL System, go to Staff Dashboard > Statistics > Activity and Request Reports. Change the date range, choose a format (HTML is usually fastest), choose Net Activity, and click Submit.

All you need for Public Library Survey purposes is right at the top, under <Grand Totals>. What the survey calls "Interlibrary Loans Provided to Other Libraries (Outgoing)" is listed under Lending. "Interlibrary Loans Received from Other Libraries (Incoming)" is under Borrowing. Copies refers to nonreturnable requests like photocopies of magazine articles. The count of returnable requests is under Loans.

Those are the only numbers you need for the Public Library Survey but there are plenty of other numbers in the statistics report. Net Activity is calculated by subtracting borrows from loans--a positive number means you loaned more materials than you borrowed, a negative number means you borrowed more than you loaned.

As you scroll down the report you'll see counts of transactions with individual libraries. If you want to sort the numbers to see your top lending or borrowing libraries for the specified period, run the report again with EXCEL selected as format, then open the spreadsheet and sort as you wish.
