New look for ILL search results
The NHAIS ILL System will be offline for about 15 minutes starting at 10 o'clock tonight (Tuesday, May 23) to install program updates.
Several changes are being made to search and result displays. The enhancements were chiefly targeted at mobile device users but desktop users will also see some changes.
One fix is part of tonight's update. When placing a non-returnable request, the Article Date field is supposed to require only the year to be filled in. In recent months, it's only been working if a month/season and day was also entered. This has been corrected.
Now, about those display changes...
Desktop:
The example above (clicking it should give you a larger view) shows the Gallery view although List view is the default view in the NHAIS ILL System.
1. The icons for Group By, Sort, and number of results have changed to text labels and the descriptions for the Group By options have been improved. For example, when the Group By list is open, hovering over an option will display the description:
2. Rather than having two separate icons for Gallery and List view, one icon will display to allow you toggle between those views.
3. “Modify Search” has been changed to a more visible button.
4. The style of the facets on the left has changed. The first facet will be open, as usual, with up to 8 results for that facet. A “Show More” option will open the full list, rather than a scroll bar within the facet, and a “Show More” option if there are more than 20 results for that facet.
5. The messages for “Searching # resources” and “Additional results available – Update” will display at the bottom of the screen instead of the top.
Mobile:
1. Access to: Home, links in the banner, Advanced Search, Items from Other Libraries (for patrons), Your Settings, Search History, Your Lists, and a Log Out option.
2. Search field.
3. Access to Your Profile and a Log Out option.
4. Options to set filters or change the Grouping, Sorting, plus number of results.
5. Formats can be clicked to open the full record or the brief display, depending on the number of records. The brief display has not changed on mobile.
6. The Request This Item icon has been replaced with a “Get It” button. If there is more than one format, the user is prompted to select the format.
7. The messages for “Searching # resources” and “Additional results available – Update” display at the bottom of the screen.
Also, page navigation is available by scrolling to the bottom of the results.
