Vacation coming up?
As the school year winds down it's time for another reminder that if your library won't be checking for ILL requests from other libraries for an extended period (more than 3 days--or the entire summer), please make sure you've informed NHAIS Services of the dates for your vacation. You can check if dates are already entered in the system by going to Staff Dashboard > ILL Admin > Participant Record > Holiday List. Your vacation dates should appear there.
If you need to add dates, please get in touch with NHAIS Services via e-mail or phone 603-271-2141. Let us know the name of your library, the town it's in, the HSA code, and the first and last days you won't be responding to ILL requests.Schools can submit a form listing vacation dates for the entire school year if they like.
Your NHAIS ILL agreement requires you to "notify all ILL users if unable to respond to requests for an extended period." Letting NHAIS Services know about your vacation plans fulfills that obligation and will keep requests from fruitlessly sitting at your location waiting for a response that doesn't come.
While you're looking at your Participant Record you may notice some other settings that may prompt questions, like "Why is every day of the week checked for Days Requests are Processed?" Answers can be found in a NHAIS Notes post from last July.
