Missing books
I’ve noticed in the past few weeks there seems to be quiet a few “missing books”.
My questions are, are libraries filling out the shipped/received status in NHAIS?
If books have bar codes on them pertaining to their specific, library wouldn’t they receive an error message if they tried to scan in another libraires books?
Why aren’t libraries sending out another email about the status of said book if it’s been found?
Our vans are emptied after each days routes, and all the books that come in from the van are sorted and placed into the bins with the information provided by the routing slips.
If you are not using the routing slips that are created with the NHAIS system please at the very least copy the information exactly. I can’t tell you the number of books that come through the State Library that don’t have the proper labeling.
For instance there will be a book with a hand written slip say it goes to Harrisville for example. The drivers can’t possible remember that it need to go to Nelson FOR Harrisville.
And that’s just one example, we have many libraries that don’t receive direct delivery.
Sorry for the rant.
Best,
