ILL holidays
Starting with July 4th this year, we've experimented with a new feature allowing us to set all NHAIS ILL System participants to be on vacation for holidays. The net effect is to add an extra day to the time allowed for a potential lender to respond to a request. It doesn't prevent you from using the ILL system in any way--you can still create and process requests if that's what you want to do on a holiday.
Seeing no adverse effects on three experimental dates, we now plan to set all libraries to be on vacation--not processing requests--on these holidays:
New Year's Day
Martin Luther King Jr./Civil Rights Day
Presidents Day
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Veterans Day
Thanksgiving Day
Christmas Day
Only the actual dates of the holidays will be set as “vacation” days. No adjustment will be made for holidays that fall on a Saturday or Sunday when a library may be closed on another day instead.
You should still notify NHAIS Services if you're not going to be responding to ILL requests for a period greater than 3 days. You don't have to tell us why, you just need to contact the NHAIS Help Desk (nhu-pac@dncr.nh.gov or 603-271-2141) with your library name and the first and last dates that you won't be responding to requests. You can let us know about ILL vacations as soon as you know the dates, even if the vacation is months away. Schools can let us know about their vacation dates for the entire school year by submitting the School Closed Dates form.
You can see (but not change) your current ILL vacation dates at Staff Dashboard > ILL Admin > Participant Record > Holiday List.
