UPC matching and format lending policy changes
The NHAIS ILL System will be offline for up to 15 minutes starting at 10 o'clock tonight (Thursday, Oct. 15) to install updates to the program.
In the latest of several recent modifications to the matching rules applied when building lender lists and checking availability, a title match will now be required to validate a UPC match. Matching on the UPC alone proved to be too broad in practice, with reports of incorrect lenders being added to the lender list. UPCs are checked where there is no match on ISBN, ISSN, LCCN, or OCLC#.
Another modification coming tonight involves the lending policy format list, which is being expanded to offer more options. By default, lenders get requests for all formats and use the system-assigned loan period. Libraries have the option to deflect requests for certain formats and specify different loan or renewal periods for different formats. Further details on the options available to New Hampshire lenders will be coming soon, after the new settings are in place.
