Redefining the NHU-PAC
Only 2 more days to go till the launch of the new NHAIS Interlibrary Loan System!
As currently configured, the NHU-PAC is just one of 153 catalogs, representing 237 libraries, that the new system will search to find the items you or your patrons are looking to borrow.
Since the 1990s, the New Hampshire Union Public Access Catalog (NHU-PAC) has served as the statewide union catalog, containing holdings of all libraries participating in the NHAIS automated interlibrary loan program, as well as a few non-participating New Hampshire libraries. Starting with Tuesday's launch of the new NHAIS Interlibrary Loan System, the NHU-PAC is the home of holdings for libraries that either could not or chose not to share the holdings in their local catalogs via Z39.50 protocols.
The NHU-PAC will continue to be a union catalog but will, for now, house the holdings of roughly a third of libraries participating in the new NHAIS ILL System rather than the entire universe of NHAIS ILL users. There are now hundreds of thousands of bibliographic records in the NHU-PAC that have no holdings attached; many of these will be removed in the weeks and months to come.
