Can't answer ILL requests for 3+ days?
This isn't anything new but, with talk about extended closures of schools and other institutions in the news, it's time for a reminder that you should notify NHAIS Services if your library won't be able to answer ILL requests for 3 or more days in a row.
You can reach the NHAIS Help Desk via e-mail or phone (271-2141). Here's what we need to know:
Name of library
Town
HSA code
Start date for "vacation"
Last date for "vacation"
NHAIS Services will set your account so requests will skip your location during the period specified. This will help borrowing libraries get their requests answered sooner. Since users have no control over their lender strings, it's important to let NHAIS Services know to configure the system to bypass your location.
School libraries that submitted a School Closed Dates form that covers the whole school year are reminded that the form states "It is the OBLIGATION of the school library to notify NHAIS Services of any changes in schedule, or additional dates when ILL will not be checked and responded to, by contacting the NHAIS Help Desk in advance of closed days."
If you need to stop van delivery, contact Diana DeCota via e-mail or phone (271-2206).
