Parenthetical numbers

What do those numbers in parentheses mean in your search results? Probably not what you think.

The figures represent the count of holdings in the union catalog (NHU-PAC) as well as Z-target locations with a mapped status value for the specified format. The status doesn't have to be On Shelf, it just has to be mapped. However, there are several large catalogs that are Z targets that do not have the status value mapped.

There may be significantly more holding libraries than the numbers indicate and the count has nothing to do with current availability. Occasionally there may be fewer holding libraries than the numbers suggest. That could happen if a Z-target library with a mapped status value has multiple holdings on a title/format: the multiple holdings mean multiple counts in that parenthetical number even if there's just one holding library.

A request has been submitted to Auto-Graphics to change the logic so that all Z-target locations are counted without regard to whether the status is mapped. This remains an open ticket.
