Public library statistics now available in tables
I reposted the annual
report statistics on the State Library’s Statistics page. The reasoning is because I fancied them up a little by converting the
spreadsheets in both the statistics themselves and the period comparison report
into tables. This allows you, the user, much greater flexibility when
viewing the data. Each column in all sheets (except the Staffing &
All Data tabs) now has an arrow to the right of the header:
Clicking on the arrow will bring up a menu with sorting
options and a picklist:
If you wanted to select only certain libraries, you would
clear the list by clicking on ‘Select All,’ then select only the libraries you
wish to compare. The table will then only display those selections.
This will work for all of the
columns/data elements. For Yes/No or categorical data elements, you could
choose to display only the categories in which you are interested. For
example, under the ‘Digital’ tab, for the question ‘What ILS does your library
use?’ you could choose to display only libraries that use Biblionix
Apollo. For numerical data elements, like ‘Population of Legal Service
Area,’ you could choose to display only those libraries within a certain range
by clearing the list and then selecting only the numbers within that particular
range.
Hopefully this will make the
reports more useful to you. Please let me know if you have any questions
or concerns about the reports. Also, thank you to Concord Public Library
for providing access to Universal Class, whose Excel 2016 class I used to learn
how to do all of this.
