Vans This Week
An update from Charles Shipman, Supervisor, Reference Services, New Hampshire State Library
We’re just about done returning all the outstanding ILL items to their libraries. Many libraries now have nothing to pick up or deliver. By the end of this week we will hit “pause” on van delivery until after the ILL system is up and running, even though there may still be a few libraries with 1 or 2 items left to return. It just doesn’t make sense to send a van out to, say, 15 libraries in order to transfer maybe 5 or 6 books total. An announcement regarding the resumption of van deliveries after ILL starts up again will be forthcoming soon. Right now we’re focused on wrapping up the returns this week.
If you DO still have a significant amount of material to pick up (a full bin or more) please contact me directly at charles.shipman@dncr.nh.gov and we’ll make sure to pick those up even if we don’t have anything to deliver to your library.
Here are some adjustments for tomorrow’s van deliveries (9/2/2020):
CAPITAL DISTRICT: The CD route will run as usual, stopping at all libraries.
LAKES REGION: Only libraries that we have items for will receive stops tomorrow. That’s New Hampton, Tamworth, Conway, Freedom, Effingham, Laconia, Belmont and Wolfeboro.
NORTH COUNTRY: Van will stop at Wentworth, Littleton, Bethlehem, North Haverhill and Piermont.
SOUTHEAST: The Southeast route tomorrow will only stop at libraries with once a week van stops: Ctr Strafford, Madbury, New Castle, Hampton Falls, Seabrook, Kensington, Kingston, Fremont. The other libraries on tomorrow’s route will receive a van delivery Friday.
SOUTHWEST: Again, only libraries that have items here will receive stops, but that includes most of the libraries on the route. Dartmouth, Meriden, Claremont, Alstead, Westmoreland, Chesterfield, Keene, Jaffrey, Wilton will all get stops.
