Problem with latest Chrome/Edge browsers

Auto-Graphics reports the following:

We want to make you aware of an issue in the most recent release of Google Chrome and Edge that affects how some staff pages [in the NHAIS ILL System] operate. It is a temporary problem with Chrome and Edge that will be fixed in future versions of each browser. No other browsers are affected, and guest/patron users are not affected.

Chrome version 87 and Edge introduced a bug that, on some staff pages, prevents the lower frame of the page from displaying: the lower frame of the screen (the actual staff function) does not load, even though the upper part of the screen (search box, tabs, name of the function) is displayed properly.

As a temporary work-around to address this problem, the lower frame will now refresh a second time before it displays. This happens very quickly and may not even be noticed.

As a result of the second refresh, staff users may notice that the cursor is not automatically placed in the data entry box (e.g., when doing a request number search) so the cursor will need to be placed there.

This problem began with Chrome and Edge version 87, released on December 2. Chrome fixed this problem in their (beta) version 88, scheduled to be released in January.
